    Hi Nick - I wonder if you have any idea if there are any movements that should not/or conversely should, be performed if you have osteoporosis?

      I think the general advice with osteoporosis is to avoid bending the spine forwards or twisting the spine. My suspicion is that doing so gently in a subtle range of motion without pushing into it would still be healthy, and help maintain range of motion without damaging bones further. But my only evidence for that is the general pattern of Qigong philosophy, which basically would advise to move each joint in every direction it can move on a regular basis to maintain mobility through age. Of course if this can’t be done without injury the risks would outweigh the benefits. So perhaps ask your doctor how far along your osteoporosis is, and whether they think it would be safe for you to move gently into forward fold or twisting motions in Qigong. I would also personally be supplementing plenty of Vitamin K, which helps prevent demineralization of bones and is a common deficiency in modern diets. Thorne Research sells an incredible high dose liquid form which can seriously up your levels quickly.

      @@TheNickLoffree Thank you so much, Nick, for your immediate and very helpful reply. I think I will continue to bend forwards gently as I seem to be able to reach my toes without difficulty - but perhaps avoid side bends. I will also look into taking vit K. I have been hesitant to see a doctor because they tend to go straight to medication which I would prefer to avoid and instead focus on exercise and nutrition - but maybe I shouldn't be so hard-headed!!

    Oh, Nick, I am finding your live classes to be hard to find --- elusive but So Very Worthwhile ! This was really wonderful. So very grateful for being part of the dojo to catch the replays. And I'll be doing this one more than once . I wander through the library and redo them all the time. Rather neat to know that Charity and Meadow were doing it too. And the guest appearance of Meadow is a real treat. To me, her behaviour wasn't exactly ornery . 😉 I wil, of course.l keep trying to be at the livestream.
